#9 playing with envelopes

Ok, holidays are over folks. Time to get back to work.

Tonight I made a pretty simple sound using an envelope editing program called stormgate. I basically just took a loop from an old japanese moog record I got from an old moog record blog I read and fed it into the stormgate which lets you draw in the envelopes for the sound. For those new to the game, an envelope is the speed that a sound gets loud and then gets quiet again. a gunshot has a very fast envelope, it's really loud right away and then quiet again right away. A train going by has a slow envelope, it gets louder and louder until it's right next to you, then gets quieter and quieter.

This program lets you draw in the envelopes for any sound you feed through it, this is what I came up with. It's all done in real time, I keep changing the envelope while it loops.

Here's the wav file
